Last weekend, my husband came home from running errands with an iced coffee latte of sorts. He had called to see if I wanted one, but my favourite coffee house’s ice machine was not functioning, so I opted to pass. Instead, I made my own.
The result was pretty incredible. Even more smooth and creamy than the commercial bought ones. It’s the perfect blend of deep dark espresso, aromatic vanilla, and sweet intricate maple syrup. There’s only a small amount of milk added, but combined with the ice, which when blended, render the most luxurious crema. So much so, it would have you thinking your beverage is actually dessert! It tastes like tiramisu in a glass!!
I’m not a big coffee drinker (at least not straight, too bitter for me), but I do enjoy my morning latte. And now, I have been enjoying my iced versions, sometimes even for breakfast.

|Maple syrup||2 tbsp|
|Vanilla extract||1 tsp|
|Milk (of choice)||1/2 cup|
|Ice||10 oz measured (approximately 8 ice cubes)|
1. In a blender, combine all ingredients in this order: milk, espresso, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and ice cubes. Adding the espresso to the cold milk cools down the espresso before adding the ice to prevent ice from melting.
2. Combine using the PUREE function until all ingredients are blended and foamy. This doesn’t take long.
3. Pour into 20 oz glass. Drizzle with more maple syrup, if so desired.
